Welcome to Bangiya Sanskritik Parishad Glasgow
It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you all for another year with Bangiya Sanskritik Parishad of Glasgow.
Besides the exceptionally warm weather this year, we are delighted to welcome the large group of talented young Bengalis who have chosen Glasgow as their second home over the last few years. We can only flourish as a community when new generations move in.
This reminds me of the open arms with which we were received by the same community twenty three years ago by another generation who laid the foundation stone of this organisation in 1971. For over fifty years BSP has remained a vibrant and inclusive cultural organisation supporting the Bengali community in and around Glasgow.
However, we do not see many of our senior members nowadays and it will be our earnest endeavour to involve them more in our community activities.
Since becoming a charity organisation in 2017 we have participated in several charitable activities including supporting Indian Students during the Covid pandemic and providing financial support to the weaver and artisan community in India who were impacted during long periods of closures. BSP also sent financial aid to support the relief efforts during Cyclone Amphan. Our attempt over the forthcoming year will be to build up on BSP's charity work and be actively involved with the wider local community.
Another big achievement last year is restoring the Bengali School which is gaining popularity by the day.
Very soon you will be getting an itinerary of our annual activities which will start with the Durga Puja. I will strongly urge all Bengalis in Glasgow and nearby to support our efforts by becoming a member of this Parishad so that you are up to date with all our activities and can actively participate in them.
Let us usher in another year full of fun and festivities.
